Overview
We are working towards strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as a platform for women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive rural economic development.
Through a community-centric approach, SOOVA works closely with SHG members to transform their collective strength into sustainable livelihood opportunities and stronger community-based enterprises.


Objectives
Enhance the livelihood opportunities and income of rural women.
Promote and strengthen SHGs as sustainable community-based institutions.
Provide training and capacity building on enterprise development, financial literacy, and livelihood activities.
Facilitate market linkages for SHG-produced products and services.
Improve access to financial linkages, including formal banking and credit facilities.
Encourage women to undertake individual and collective enterprises.
Strengthen women’s participation in local value chains and rural businesses.
Create sustainable livelihood models that can be scaled across rural communities.

The initiative is strengthened through collaboration between SOOVA, Heifer International, and Reliance Foundation, NABARD bringing together complementary expertise and resources.
Impact
The initiative has created a strong platform for women-led livelihood development by supporting 978 SHGs and enabling women to access opportunities beyond traditional subsistence activities.
Through the SHG promotion initiative, SOOVA is helping create a pathway from community mobilization to sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment.
The programme goes beyond SHG formation by focusing on what happens after formation—building capacities, creating livelihood opportunities, connecting women to finance, linking enterprises with markets, and strengthening collective institutions.
